As a Sooner and Gator fan, this was a particularly tough week of college football for me. Sometimes that’s just how it goes! Let’s get to it!
Oh, my Sooners. The game against Baylor wasn’t an aberration; the defense really is this bad. The Sooners, 30 point favorites against Iowa State at home, lost thanks to the most lackadaisical defense I can remember seeing. Mike Stoops should be fired. This unit needs a complete overhaul. Horrendous tackling, no pressure, and bad angles were on display for everyone to see. There are certain programs that are polarizing for people. Baker Mayfield over the last few seasons has made OU easy to root against. Many were celebrating on social media when an ISU player planted a flag on the Sooners field. OU isn’t out of the running, but they’ll likely have to run the table to have a chance at a playoff spot. And with how bad the defense is, it wouldn’t surprise me if this team lost two more games. The win against OSU seems like an eternity ago.
Felipe Franks. You. Are. Horrible. Thank you for your -18 rushing yards. Thank you for barely throwing over 100 yards. Of all the athletically challenged buffoons to play QB for the Gators in recent memory, you sir, are the worst. No, I don’t put that loss on a kicker who had never missed an XP for Florida prior to today. I put it on Franks and Jim McElwain. Urban Meyer, please come back. We miss you. How do you lose to a team that lost to Troy? I had to eat three Reeses cup’s just to calm down. Stop making me fat Felipe!
Glad I got that out of my system. Onward! Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Bama, Clemson, and Penn St. are really good. All three won today and should be 1-3 when the new rankings come out. Georgia won as well, and they look great. Auburn, Miami, Washington St, and TCU should all move up a few spots. I don’t think Miami is back all the way, but love the renewed rivalry with FSU. I’m impressed with the resurgence of Kenny Hill at TCU. A good win today for the Horned Frogs against WVU.

Who has the edge for the Heisman? Mayfield, Darnold, Jackson, and Barkley have all had games where they’ve either struggled or their teams have lost. Some have had both. Barkley had a bad first half today, and if the Sooners lose another game, I feel like Baker won’t win the Heisman. Barkley feels like the lead candidate right now.
Michigan St. saved me from a terrible day of college football. I don’t really have anything against Michigan, but watching John O’Korn throw himself on the sidelines to earn a phantom unsportsmanlike conduct call against MSU seemed Tom Bradyesque. A weather game where neither team could muster much offense in the second half, Michigan St. held on against a Hail Mary to win in the Big House. At this point, Michigan feels like the little brother to MSU. Jim Harbaugh losing doesn’t bother many people outside of Ann Arbor.
CU and AFA lost close games. It was really fun last year when the Buff’s were good. It seems they’ve come crashing back to earth. And AFA is 1-4. At least CSU is 4-2. That’s kind of decent, right?
Washington gets no respect from me unless they beat Washington St. That game doesn’t occur until late November. What an easy schedule for the Huskies.
See you next week!
